Originating from Amiens, a city located in the north of France, Motionless have now officially entered the indie hip-hop scene with the release of their first album, ‘The Inertia of an Accent at Rest’.

Without locking themselves in any one particular genre the band manage to embrace and entwine hip-hop, pop, rock and jazz. Motionless creates a daring and innovative trend associating electro and organic sounds for a result in which melody and emotions prevail over the rest, poles apart from traditional hip-hop productions.

The unique out of line musical universe of Motionless is based on the concept of contradictions: richness rubs shoulders with minimalism, the ambiances confront traditional instruments warmth with the cold and raw side of tortured electronic sounds, a rapper sings a pop theme on an electro instrumental, or a jazz drummer conjures up the spirit of rock into a hip-hop song…

Both abrupt and emotional, the music is composed by musicians who are as ingenious as they are disconcerting. The band consists of David Monet on Fender Rhodes / MiniMoog, Jérôme Fouquet on trumpet (and bass guitar on some songs), François Xavier Cumin (aka Fiskou) on turntables, and Pierre De Brouwer (aka Pierre the Motionless) as the band's beatmaker and MC.

This first album sets the scene perfectly for Motionless to present some of its collaborations with rappers, most of which come from the blossoming American indie hip-hop scene. The band’s music has provided these artists with an exciting and fresh canvas upon which they have painted new musical landscapes; different from the ones they are used to.

Ancient Mith (Ponowai Flora Records), Demune (Ponowai Flora Records), Babel Fishh (Subversiv Records), the BeastMaster (Papervehicle crew), Edison (Papervehicle crew) and Thesis Sahib (Clothes Horse Records) have vocally contributed to the album.

Motionless is also and above all a live band, who have shared the stage with respected international artists such as Buck 65 or Erik Truffaz (Blue Note), and have toured with canadian artists Soso and Epic.
